Welcome back to our new blog series.  This block is going to be presented to you in our signature StashLadies style: 1 block: 3 ways.  Each week (for quite a while as you will see) we will feature a different technique for both sewing the block together (3 different easy to follow ways) and for assembling the blocks to create new & different quilt pattern combinations.  Bookmark us so you don’t miss out on this fun new series.

Sewing THE WESLEY BLOCK StashMomma’s Way:

making an 81/2” or (121/2“)  Finished square block

 

Cut 1 block 87/8” square  (127/8” square)

Cut in half diagonally

Cut 1 block 47/8” square (67/8” square)

Cut in half diagonally

Cut 1 rectangle 4½” x 9”  (61/2” x 13″)

RS together, sew 1 small triangle to rectangle along one 9” edge (13″ edge)

Press triangle down

Right sides together, pin large triangle to piece just sewn.

Sew along diagonal, then trim excess material to form a triangle

Press seam open

 8.5block             finishedblock

Trim square to 8½” (121/2“)

 

Use remaining large and small triangles for a 2nd block
